Leveraging the Natural Cycle of Change
Identify the strategic components of change and the executive’s role in leading through confusion, uncertainty and fear. Through case study reviews, you will learn a valuable leadership model on the natural cycle of change and how to overcome the inevitable thresholds every credit union leader faces. Create and prioritize your own action steps for change you face within your own organization. Take away tools to make progress on current issues facing your credit union. Learn practices for coordinating with others who are at different stages in the cycle of change.

Achieving Superior Performance
through Effective Management Communications

This session will focus on a review of your own assessment taken prior to the course and will uncover how your personal style supports you in your current role and relationships. You’ll dive deeper into the complexities and practices of an effective communication system that supports your success as you face the ever-changing challenges and opportunities as a credit union executive. Exercises will provide an opportunity to practice adapting your communication styles with others.

Blending Change, Effective Communication
and Strategic Leadership

Develop a strategic communication plan that connects the changes you seek to make at your credit union with specific and diverse approaches. Practice techniques that will help you build a confident presence while managing multiple priorities, even while facing uncertainty and chaos.

3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

3:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Personal Work: Leadership Development Plan
With the support of an executive leadership coach, you’ll create the first draft of your own leadership development plan to include the strategic context of your role, stakeholders, competencies required for success and competencies required for ongoing value-add to your employer.

4:45 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Conclusion and Evening Homework

Day Two: January 28, 2010

Assessing Your Three Pillars of Leadership
Learn about the attributes of an exemplary leader and perform a valuable self-assessment of your three pillars of leadership. This hands-on exercise will give you insight into your leadership strengths and weaknesses and help you establish tangible goals for your leadership development.

10:15 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Utilizing a Model for Action for More Effectiveness
Build greater accountability and commitment by learning how to better manage time and resources. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll practice this model with other executives. The exercises are designed to better prepare you for providing direction, increase clarity in expectations and achieving goals. Learn techniques for having that sticky conversation when people are not fulfilling their responsibilities. You’ll leave this session with the tools to create greater ease with others, moving them to successfully deliver on their commitments.

Managing Resistance to Change
Learn how to shift unproductive language and mood to more efficiently accomplish your organization’s goals. Learn the different components of resistance and practice techniques to help others align with your organization’s strategic goals.

3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Communicate with Confidence and Dignity
Remain centered in constant change and make effective requests and declines with dignity. Through practice, integrate the various learnings of the day into your real-life strategic leadership role.

4:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Personal Work: Leadership Development Plan
Update your leadership development plan based on your priorities and goals, resources required and supporting practices.

4:45 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Conclusion and Evening Homework

Visioning and Strategizing the Future
Learn how to bring your organization’s vision and strategic goals down to a practical, executable level. You’ll walk away with a highly effective tool that will help support the ongoing strategic development of yourself, your team and your organization.

10:15 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Meeting Your Strategic Initiatives
Link the key learnings of this course to your own strategic initiatives and create a plan to practice and implement your new leadership skills. You will develop your own conditions of success and will schedule your follow-up, one-on-one leadership coaching session with one of the DDJ Myers executive leadership coaches.
